Dr. Joseph M. Weidberg, founder and director of a school in West Atlantic City, which later became known as Oxford Academy, died here Wednesday. He was 85. An educator and psychologist, Dr.
Weidberg also was the first executive director of Jewish Community Center in Atlantic City and a founder of Mt. Sinai Hospital here. Long experienced in "individualized education," Dr. Weidberg in 1935 opened the Oxford Academy of Individualized Education, initiating the world reknowned "Oxford, system" the of academy teaching. was destroyed by fire in 1971 and in 1973 the operation was moved to Westbrook, Conn.
Dr. Weidberg was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Miami Heart Institute, a member of the executive committee of both the American Jewish Committee and the AntiDefamation League of B'nai B'rith. An area resident for 45 years, he owned and operated a service station for many years and was night watchman at the Deer Park Baking Hammonton. Mr. Gompert was a of the New Columbia M.E. Church. A World War I veteran, he had served in the Royal British Canadian Army.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanette; two daughters, Clara Campanella of Nesco and Emily Havelow of Clayton; three sons, Donald Rupert of Nesco, John F. Gompert of Austin, and Robert A. Gompert Jr. of Almeda, two sisters, Emily Knecht of Rivervale and Dorothy Getler of Dumont; a brother, Edward of Rivervale; and five grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m.

Mrs. Lois J. Logan PLEASANTVILLE Mrs. Lois J. Logan, a nurse in the Atlantic City public schools, died Wednesday at her home.
She lived at 11 W. Wright St. She was a teacher in the Brighton Avenue and Richmond Avenue schools from 1967 1 to 1974 when she was appointed school nurse. Formerly of Dayton, Ohio, she was an area resident 31 years. and a member of St.
Peter's R.C. Church. Mrs. Logan attended St. Mary's School of Nursing in St.
Louis, and Glassboro State Teacher's College. She was a member of the Atlantic City Nurses Association and the Atlantic City, Atlantic County, New Jersey and National Education associations. Surviving are her husband, Charles; two daughters, Linda Gates and Judith M. Logan, both of New York City; a stepdaughter, Vivian Johnson of Conwell, three sons, Charles Philip Michael and Stephen, all of Pleasantville; her father, Rufus F. Mobley of Dayton, and two brothers, Rufus Mobley Jr.
